Merge Protocol

When two pages own the same durable subject, merge into a survivor, preserve evidence, update links, and keep old retrieval alive.

Resolver Status

This companion summarizes the merge path. Entity Identity Protocol owns entity dedupe details; Wiki Brain Operating Model owns fold/redirect shape; Index Logging Protocol owns closeout. Source: User request, 2026-07-01

Merge Steps

  1. Pick the stronger survivor.
  2. Merge compiled truth into one coherent synthesis.
  3. Merge timeline entries chronologically.
  4. Merge aliases, related links, citations, and embeds.
  5. Update wikilinks that should point directly to the survivor.
  6. Add redirects for retired slugs when lookup value remains.
  7. Rebuild index/qmd and log the merge.

Do Not

  • Do not silently delete unique evidence.
  • Do not remove a page before preserving aliases, timelines, and retrieval paths.
  • Do not merge valid layer mirrors such as tool page plus skill procedure without preserving both ownership layers.

Closeout

If this rule changes, update Filing Decision Tree first, then this companion page, relevant directory READMEs, generated packs if routing changed, wiki/_index.md, qmd, and wiki/log.md. Source: Index Logging Protocol, 2026-07-01
