Healing Forward
The care you were given is not meant to be repaid to the giver. It is meant to be passed forward to the next person who needs it.
Kevin's belief is that healing moves in one direction, outward. Someone helps you through your worst stretch, and the way you honor that is by becoming the person who does it for someone else. Someone close carried Kevin through the low point after his breakup — stayed up with him, visited on the bad days, and trusted him with their own story so he would feel safe trusting someone back. He came out the other side stronger, and the instinct that followed was to do the same for the people closest to him. Source: User, 2026-06-07
Start with those closest to you
The method is plain: you do not become the kind of person who heals by reading about it. You do it by holding the hand of one person in front of you who is hurting — and you start with the people closest to you. Kevin applied it directly, coaching a close friend to resolve a conflict in person rather than over text, and helping another work through comparison and old wounds instead of letting them fester. The care compounds outward
When someone healed Kevin, the return on their effort was not Kevin healing them back. It was Kevin healing several other people, who will heal others. This is why the giver who picks the right people outperforms over time (see Givers, Matchers, Takers): the care does not terminate, it branches. The math only works if you give it forward instead of trying to settle the ledger with the original giver. Source: User, 2026-06-07
You heal others by helping them speak
The mechanism is usually Verbalize to Heal. The thing that helped Kevin was being given a safe place to say the scary thing out loud, so the thing he offers others is the same safe place. Healing forward is mostly creating the conditions for someone to name what they are carrying, then sitting with them while they do. Source: User, 2026-06-07
